Description

We are looking for someone with experience pitching, writing, and editing general lifestyle content with a specialty in home, living, and commerce. The ideal candidate will have a strong voice, relatable sense of humor, and outstanding writing and grammar skills. Previous experience writing for a similar site or publication is a must as the editor must be able to write articles that need minimal edits and embody the Everygirl’s voice and brand, as well as assign and edit articles. The Everygirl’s Lifestyle Editor should be comfortable collaborating with editors on fine tuning pitches and creating a compelling and diverse editorial calendar that provides relevant and helpful content for readers. A strong background in SEO and optimizing articles for traffic are a huge plus, as well as hitting commerce goals. The ideal candidate has a passion for home decor news, products, and trends but will be expected to cover a wide range of lifestyle topics including: ● Home Design ● Decorating ● Product round-ups ● Cleaning & Organizing ● Easy recipes ● Meal Prep ● Wedding ● Hobbies ● Enneagram ● Travel ● TV & Movies ● Books ● Relationships ● And more… Responsibilities ● Pitch and write impactful, high-engaging, and unique content on general lifestyle topics, with an eye and passion for home and living topics ● Work closely with the managing editor to grow section SEO potential ● Identify gaps in coverage and ownable content subjects ● Stay up-to-date on the latest home decor trends and be thinking about new story ideas ● Adept at working in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times ● Interview topic experts, source and research design trends, or be an expert yourself ● Write both short round-ups and intros and long-form articles stories ● Participate in and contribute to brainstorming sessions ● Maintain The Everygirl’s brand integrity in all work ● Contribute to social media channels Qualifications ● A strong understanding of The Everygirl’s brand and coverage ● Strong writing skills including a strong comprehension of AP Style and grammar and ability to follow The Everygirl Media Group Style Guide ● Experience sourcing, pitching, testing, and writing about home and living topics ● Excellent organizational skills ● Knowledge and experience with Google Workspace and Wordpress ● Commitment to diversity ● Experience and comfort in a nimble, fast-paced start-up environment on a highly collaborative team ● Able to multitask and still produce quality work ● Able to think critically and problem-solve independently ● Excellent time management and communication skills ● Willing and able to collaborate with our team on engaging content ideas
