Bows are Back! How To Wear the Twisted & Tied Trend this Summer

by Taylor-Marie Dobson

With the latest trend of athleisure, girly and feminine looks have been put on hold. You may still want to keep things simple and comfortable which is why bows are the perfect addition to elevate your look! Now we know bows are not anything new, but here are five ways to rock this trend and still look grown and chic.

The easiest and most common way to work a bow into your outfit is through your shirt or dress. Button-down shirts like this one from Freepeople are great in this summer heat. With the bow on the back you can leave it buttoned up without looking too plain, or tie the front to create a fun crop top!

Crystal Castillo, recently featured as an ESG influencer, showcased her twist on the trend! Along with her light blue wrap top, Crystal wore denim culottes with a frayed hem -- both courtesy of Zara. Check out her entire interview on our site!

Woke up late again? Dresses and rompers are quick fixes when you don’t have the time to put an entire outfit together. This cute mini-dress with its open back is eye-catching enough that you don’t have to do much with accessories -- dainty earrings and rings will compliment it perfectly! Similarly, this Sawyer One Piece Romper screams effortless with its relaxed and oversized fit. Excellent for summer adventures, this romper places all the focus on you.

Thanks to Rihanna, bow slides are everywhere! If you can’t get your hands on this cross between ultimate comfort and style, Freepeople’s “Got Me Twisted” Sandal has the same appeal. The satin bow on such a basic style instantly adds character to even the most casual outfit! Maybe you have these already and you’re looking for something a bit more put together but still comfortable. Lace up flats like these Vegan Heart Flats upgrade your basic ballerina flats and give elegance to your look. Throw on a dress or a cute pair of stylish jeans are you’re guaranteed to be instagram ready!
